The Law Reform Commission is holding a briefing on its ‘Report on eConveyancing’ at its offices on 35-39 Shelbourne Road, Ballsbridge, Dublin on 5 April.

The Commission’s report contains its views on a 180 page report, ‘Modelling of the Irish Conveyancing System,’ previously prepared by consultants BearingPoint. The report contained a detailed analysis of the current conveyancing transaction model and set out a roadmap for the ultimate introduction of eConveyancing in Ireland.

Conveyancing is the act of transferring property title from one person to another and affects most people at some stage during their lives, the Law Reform Commission said.

The Commission is currently finalising a Land Law and Conveyancing Law Reform Bill which the government said it will publish in 2006 and present to the Oireachtas. This law reform Bill is an essential precursor to the introduction of an eConveyancing system.
