A new special interest group aimed at IT and business professionals who want to find out how to make the most of the latest technologies and applications in the mobile and remote computing area, is being launched this month by the Irish Computer Society (ICS). This is the latest in a number of professional groups set up by the ICS, including Public Sector Network, IT Trainers Network, IT Sales Network, Health Informatics Society of Ireland, Information Quality Network and Open Group Network. These special interest groups now organise their own activities in consultation with the ICS, which assists with administration and operations.
According to the ICS, the main focus of the new Mobile Computing Network will be the sharing of information on various methods of implementing mobile technologies and their respective risks and benefits. Over the next few months, members will have the opportunity to learn about best practice, to ask questions and to network with peers, colleagues and technology providers through a programme of keynote sessions and interactive workshops.
The first event, on Friday June 24th, is open to IT and business professionals with responsibility for, or an interest in, setting up mobile systems. Entitled ‘Understand your options and develop a Mobile Solutions Strategy’, this half-day seminar will cover a range of topics, including deploying a mobile computing platform and implementing wireless networks.
