Digiweb cuts the chord on line rental

New site to highlight high cost of broadband in Ireland

Digiweb today announced the launch of their new information based website www.nolinerental.ie.  The site focuses on the idea that you no longer need to pay line rental charges just to get broadband or phone services.  The site also highlights that Ireland is the most expensive country in Europe for Line Rental being over 63% more expensive than the EU average per month.

The aim of www.nolinerental.ie is to communicate to Irish consumers that they are often paying as much as €290.16 a year on line rental unnecessarily. Not only is Ireland the dearest in Europe for line rental, we are almost twice as expensive as Japan (€12.44) and nearly three times more expensive than the USA (€8.44).*  Eircom has also indicated that Line rental is likely to go up in Ireland by the end of year.

Commenting on the announcement, Colm Piercy, Managing Director at Digiweb stated, ‘We hope that the site will be a useful and informative resource for Irish consumers.  The introduction of the ComReg site www.callcosts.ie has already helped educate consumers about some of the mysteries and costs involved with choosing a broadband and phone provider.  The purpose of www.nolinerental.ie is to reinforce the concept of getting the best deal for quality broadband and phone services without paying unnecessary line rental charges.’
