Bluemetrix has announced a partnership with Hortonworks to promote the development and support of Apache Hadoop.

At least 20 new developer jobs will be created as a result of the partnership – 15 of which will be at Bluemetrix’s head office in Cork and a further five will be in its Japanese office. Hiring is expected to be completed by the end of this year.

As the first Hortonworks Silver Certified partner in Ireland Bluemetrix will be able to offer local services expertise to Hortonworks customers in Ireland, helping companies deploy their Hadoop solutions faster and more efficiently.

Liam English, founder and CEO of Bluemetrix (pictured), said: “Since Bluemetrix was established in 2001 the volume and sources of data have increased exponentially and the pressure on businesses to operate in the ‘always-on’ environment has grown dramatically.

“This partnership with Hortonworks will further enhance Bluemetrix’s Hadoop and Big Data capabilities, and help us provide our clients with the most current tools, resources and training, thus enabling our clients to turn data into actionable insights.”

Notable Hadoop users include Facebook, Twitter, eBay, Amazon, NASA, Fox and Google.

Bluemetrix has been working with Hadoop since 2009, providing Big Data insights and real-time reporting. Its clients include NTT, Nielsen, Kantar Media, Behaviour & Attitudes, RTE, Pioneer, Toshiba and Ryanair.
