Halo fans can breathe a sigh of relief – Microsoft has finally announced a release date for the long awaited follow-up Halo 2. After months of waiting, the game will be available from November this year. Halo 2 moves the battle to Earth where the Covenant has to be destroyed once again. The game can also be played on Xbox Live.

Microsoft also announced a raft of new titles for the Xbox at E3 in Los Angeles last month. Included in the line-up is Forza Motorsport, an advanced racing simulation developed by Microsoft Game Studios that will take advatange of the Xbox Live service.

Also on the cards are two role-playing games: Fable for Xbox from Big Blue Box Studios and Lionhead Studios; and Jade Empire for Xbox from BioWare Unreal Championship 2: The Liandri Conflict will also find its way on to the Xbox in the near future, as will Conker: Live and Reloaded and Kameo: Elements of Power. MechAssault fans will be pleased to see that a sequel is on its way, MechAssault 2: Lone Wolf.
