Ricoh has launched an alternative printing technology that it claims will “shake-up the inkjet market”. The GelSprinter range is a gel-based colour printing system which, says Ricoh, will offer small businesses fast, high quality and economical alternatives to inkjet devices. The consumables are pigment-based and similar in viscosity to that of red wine. The pigment sits on top of the paper, rather than soaking into the fibres, creating a fast-drying and waterproof finish which does not smudge, blur or bleed, according to Ricoh.
The printers carry a two-year manufacturer’s on-site service warranty within mainland Britain. Paul Cheetham, director of dealer sales with Ricoh UK and Ireland, said the warranty would reduce the burden on reseller resources and allow channel partners to focus on additional revenue generation opportunities. “In essence, it means our channel partners can treat their smaller customers in the same way they service large MFD accounts.” The new machines range in price from EUR*194 to EUR*378.
