The much anticipated smart phone from Palm, the Pre, will be available exclusively through 02.
The deal for Telefonica, the 02 parent company, includes the UK, Spain Germany and Ireland.
The Pre features Palm’s new OS, called WebOS, that is touted as being more open than either Windows Mobile or Apple’s iPhone offerings.
The new device introduces a breakthrough user interface and hardware design that makes it one of the most integrated and user-friendly mobile phones on the market, says Palm.
Featuring a smooth, elegantly rounded ergonomic design and a physical keyboard that slides out only when needed, the Pre is engineered to feel natural in your hand and comfortably small in your pocket.
When closed, Palm Pre is ideal for phone calls, web browsing, music, photos and videos; when open, Palm Pre is optimised for e-mail and text messaging. It provides an exceptional experience for phone calls, whether held to your ear, over speakerphone or via Bluetooth.
So far it has fared well against other devices in pre-release testing, with many commentators indicating that it could see a major resurgence for Palm and its own OS.
