The Lad’s Pad

A big design treat this year at the Lad’s Pad. The concept of a standard Dublin 8 apartment with four smallish rooms shoe-horned into 535 square feet has been thrown out the window. Ace designer Lewis Murphy has instead opted for an open-plan space that while functional is design lead and shows clearly that “contrast” is in.  With sponsorship from Intel, this space is packed with the latest in electronics wizardry and a must for you to see. Look out too for the original Andy Warhols.

Tank for the troops

Our outdoor treat this year is something completely different. Toys 4 Big Boys has sponsored the restoration to full working operational status, of a retired Chieftain Tank. Yes this monstrous beast will form the centrepiece of a military display. The really unusual thing is that we will actually start it up and drive it around the parade ring one or twice on both the Saturday and the Sunday.

Fun for all

Also new this year is the concept of a Fun-zone. Well from concept to reality, the Toys 4 Big Boys team delivers because we have packed the Shelbourne Hall with a whole range of exciting spectacles and interactive displays. For those of you who like your games, but also fancy a bit of a rush, you might like to try your hand (sorry …foot) at the Fifa ’06 penalty shoot out. We will be attempting to break the Guinness World Record for the fastest ball kicked by a human! If you have a head for heights, you might opt for a go on the Todds Leap climbing wall, which is the biggest in Europe. Golf and electronics also merge in the Fun-Zone where there are some interesting spots for you to swing a club.  If you get to the show make sure you visit this area. Just to round off the excitement we are also planning a ramp where some very special guests from MTV’s Dirty Sanchez will be making an appearance.

We must not forget to mention EMMA Ireland. This stands for European Mobile Media Association, and is for people who really care about in car entertainment. Maybe that was an understatement. Over 50 of their members will be competing in a serious competition on the Saturday to see whose car has the best sound system. If you have ever seen Pimp My Ride on TV, here is an opportunity to savour it for real. This is so big, that it too has its own hall. Seeing is believing.

We hope to see you all at the event. I hope that you enjoy this supplement and that you have a really great time at the show. For ticket information and bookings log onto www.toys4bigboys.ie or call 1850 221 222.
