27 May 2011

The future development of high speed wireless networking, optical technologies and Internet architecture could take on an Irish accent, at least that’s the goal of
a new PhD programme based at Trinity College Dublin.

The Telecommunications Graduate Initiative (TGI), launched this week at the International Symposium on Integrated Network Management, is designed to produce graduates with an advanced education in telecommunications, will see students offered a range of more than 30 modules in wired and wireless network networks.

Classes will be given by experts of global standing in areas like Cloud Computing, Network Architecture, Antenna Design and Congestion Control. There will also be opportunities to develop business skills through modules on Entrepreneurship and Innovation.

A class of 35 directly-funded students (with a possible 100 additional places available through commercial sponsorships) will be exposed to a range of activity with industry partners, and will have to undertake a siix-month internship with a company based in Ireland or abroad.
