Looking ahead: Strencom CEO Tim Murphy

Strencom, the data network and cloud computing provider, has revealed details of a €750,000 investment as the firm seeks to accelerate its international growth.

The firm, which is an Enterprise Ireland client, is using the funds to target UK customers with its cloud infrastructure as a service (IaaS) and data network services.

The investment is creating seven new jobs, three of which have been filled, and it also sees Strencom opening a London office.

The investment is backed by a €500,000 Business Expansion Scheme (BES) investment. It has allocated €250,000 to a sales and marketing budget and has appointed Ben Shrive as UK country manager.

Strencom is also growing its wider European customer base, and has recently concluded partnerships with Deutsche Telekom, France Telecom and Opal. They have selected Strencom to provide connectivity for their European enterprise customers’ Irish locations.

Opal – a member of the TalkTalk Group, the third largest UK communications network operator – is now able to set-up customers’ IPVPN networks in Ireland via Strencom. This allows sites in Ireland to connect seamlessly with UK corporate networks.

Strencom provides managed wide-area networks, cloud services and connectivity to businesses ranging from medium to enterprise scale. It has a national data network, connected internationally via global carriers and global data centres. It differentiates itself on its ability to provide cost competitive packages of cloud connectivity and cloud services.

Strencom CEO Tim Murphy said: “We recognised three years ago that cloud computing would drive exponential growth in network and data centre services, and that is why we have been continuously investing in these areas in the past three years. We have also been developing our systems, people and business management infrastructure to ensure that we would be competitively positioned to dynamically scale the business.”

He added: “We are also looking at opportunities to further accelerate our growth, with additional sources of finance being readied to fund possible acquisitions.”

Enterprise Ireland’s Orla Battersby notes: “Strencom’s international growth plans are underpinned by the firm’s strategic investments in its management, marketing, innovation and service capability will help ensure that it realises its international growth ambitions.”
