Sony delays PS3 launch

Life

13 April 2006

Sony reports the delay as being the result of problems relating to the digital rights management on the console’s next-generation Blu-Ray optical drive.

The setback is good news for console rival Microsoft, which managed to get its next generation console into the shops before Christmas. The Xbox 360 has sold well, despite problems supplying enough units to met customer demand at the end of last year.

The console allows other hardware devices, such as digital cameras, MP3 players, external hard drives, and even Sony’s Playstation, to be plugged into any of the device’s USB 2 ports.
