SevTech is a new IT consultancy on the scene, but who’s behind it and what makes it stand out in a crowded market. TechCentral.ie chats to managing director Rob Curley.
What’s the origin of SevTech?
The foundations of SevTech are interesting, and not just the name, which is centred around the fact that there are seven co-founders. The seven of us all worked together previously, and the company was acquired, after a year or so I took some time off but then started thinking about starting fresh with a new company, and with my former colleagues.
What areas is SevTech focused on?
With SevTech, we’re all back together again, and we’re using all of our technical expertise and close working relationships to offer technology consultancy to the enterprise market. We also have our own cloud AI and full stack development capabilities, which means we can help companies to scale their business getting the best out of both cloud and AI technologies.
What makes SevTech unique?
Where we’re looking to stand out is through investment in building our own software assets to help organisations embrace innovation, and react to change quickly in this rapidly evolving environment. We’ve created an AI-powered Rapid Application Development framework, that will help our clients to speed up their ability to develop mobile and other applications with a lower total cost of ownership. We provide the cloud and AI development capability as a foundation for their business logic, using it as an accelerator. It provides all the foundational capability and plumbing underneath their application or website, including payment integration, communications, security, user management etc. and the actual cloud infrastructure as well. With our framework we can build all of those layers around the asset increasing our clients go-to-market proposition speed and at the time allowing a flexible framework for future change to meet market dynamics, with a focus on cost of ownership.
What is the SevTech ethos?
We know there are plenty of IT consultancies on the market but we believe SevTech is different. The quality of our team is second to none: we’re not just consultants, we’re hands-on technologists. With our framework-first approach we have the tools and methodologies that will help our clients respond quickly to innovation and transformation. We’re harnessing the power of AI and using it to accelerate application development. And, wrapped around all that is our great team culture – SevTech is about people. We believe in collaboration, curiosity and having a bit of craic along the way.
SevTech is six months old now, what’s the plan for the future?
Our positioning for year one was to get up and running and establish ourselves. It was about making sure that we’re all out working with an individual client, and we’ve done that over the last six months. Now it’s all about going to market. So, we’ve started putting in place the structures around sales and marketing and operations to support that. So basically, providing the core team with sales, marketing and operations capabilities to be able to give them the time to focus on going out to market.
We’re looking to grow to about 20 people by year end and win some extra clients; we’ve got two to three main clients right now, and we’d like to grow that to four or five, we expect growth at this point to be relatively organic.
