PlayStation Vita to go on sale in February

Sony’s PlayStation Vita portable game console will go on sale on 22 February in Ireland following a pre-Christmas launch in Japan.

The replacement for the PlayStation Portable, the Vita features a 5" touch screen OLED display, quad core ARM Cortex A- MPCore processor, and a quad core SGX543MP4+ GPU, six axis control, Wi-Fi, 3G, Bluetooth, GPS and front and rear cameras.

On top of the ability to interact with a game via touch screen and buttons, the Vita will let players capture snapshots and video clips from games, as well as statistics, and share them on social media sites like Facebook and YouTube.

The delay will doubtless annoy gamers who have been waiting to get their hands on the Vita since it’s preview at E3 in June. Nintendo will also be happy to see the handheld console space remain as-is until the generally quieter early months to let the 3DS get over its sluggish debut.
