PC pilots take to the skies

Calling all aspiring pilots — Ireland’s first combined Computer Flight Simulator and Aviation Show was held in September.

Organised by PC Pilots Ireland, the event was intended to promote computer flight simulation as a hobby and had exhibits from aviation and computer flight simulator communities in Ireland. Visitors got the opportunity to try Microsoft Flight Simulator, watch demonstrations of flying on the Internet with live virtual air traffic control, and
flying in a home built cockpit.Microsoft’s flight sim Crimson Skies was also be available to play on the Xbox console, and visitors were able to enter draws to win prizes such as copies of Microsoft Flight
Simulator 2004 and Crimson Skies for the Xbox.

Presentations from aviation groups and flight sim organisations also took place, and if you had an interest in taking flying lessons, the National Flight Centre was on hand.

The show was held on September 19th in the Red Cow Hotel, Naas Road, Dublin
