Officially launched today, the Moviestar.ie Irish Web Awards will be taking place on 11 October at the Radisson SAS Royal Hotel in Dublin. The evening will see awards presented in nine categories covering the diversity of online audiences and the recognition of standards adherence in website design.
Speaking about the Moviestar.ie Irish Web Awards, organiser Damien Mulley said “I’m very pleased to bring the community-minded model we had for the Blog Awards to the website awards…The philosophy of the Moviestar.ie Irish Web Awards is that a 16-year-old Web designer is on an equal footing with design agencies.”
The Moviestar.ie Irish Web Awards will not charge a nomination fee and will judge every nominated website using strict and open criteria.
Speaking on behalf of Moviestar.ie Iain McConnon said “We’re delighted to be the headline sponsors of the Irish Web Awards…Our previous involvement with the Blog Awards showed us the power of online communities and the immense pride people have for their own work as well as each others.”
The event will be hosted by 2FM DJ and blogger Rick O’Shea.
