Meta has introduced a new series of AI-powered glasses, known as Meta Glasses, with prices starting from €309. This collection, developed in collaboration with EssilorLuxottica, is designed as a more affordable alternative to the company’s high-end Ray-Ban and Oakley products.

Customers can choose from 26 different variants, including various colours, frame shapes and the option for prescription lenses.

The product line consists of three main categories: the eye-catching Meta Fury, the traditional rectangular Meta Adventurer and the sleek, oval Meta Glasses by Kylie, which were designed in collaboration with Kylie Jenner. Meta regards glasses as the most important hardware for the current AI era and states that glasses are the perfect medium for a permanent, all-day digital assistant.

These glasses are the first to make use of Muse Spark, a new AI model from Meta’s Superintelligence Labs. The hardware includes open-ear audio, voice-controlled commands, a physical button for accessing Meta AI and the ability to take videos and photos hands-free. According to the company, users can count on more than eight hours of use on a single charge.

This strategic move is intended to strengthen Meta’s leadership in the wearable technology sector, where it already holds more than 75% of the global market.

By offering a starting price that is significantly lower than that of the Ray-Ban Meta (from €419), the Oakley Meta (from €439) and the premium Ray-Ban Display (€499), Meta is targeting a broader, mainstream audience.

This expansion comes at a time when the sector is entering a fierce competitive battle for the next dominant computing platform. Although Meta is the frontrunner in terms of units shipped, it is under pressure from Snap, whose AR-focused Specs are considerably more expensive, and from Google, which is working with brands such as Gentle Monster and Warby Parker for its Android XR glasses. In addition, reports indicate that Apple could soon enter the smart glasses market.
