Lord David Puttnam, Ireland’s Digital Champion, has been announced as patron of Camara Education, an Irish-based social enterprise using technology to improve education in disadvantaged communities around the world. A strong advocate for digital developments in the education sector, Lord Puttnam has been a supporter of Camara’s work since it began operations in 2005.

“I am extremely passionate about the evolution of digital technology in education and I’m delighted to be asked by Camara to be its Patron”, said Lord Putnam addressing Camara Ireland’s TechSpace Festival earlier this month. “Digital knowledge is fundamentally reshaping the way in which people of every age connect with, make sense of, and engage with society.”
Lord Puttnam is a member of the board of Promethean, an education technology firm, and as a film producer, he has won 10 Academy Awards, 26 BAFTAs and a Palm D’Or.

John Fitzsimons, Camara CEO, said: “We are hugely honoured that Lord Puttnam has agreed to become our Patron, further endorsing Camara as an international player committed to improving standards of education. We share Lord Puttnam’s drive for digital development, and his support will help us to continue to deliver positive change for students.”
