AI is going mainstream but opinions differ on its capability to add value and free up staff to focus on more rewarding work.

According to interim results from the latest TechBeat survey in asociation with Storm Technology, almost two thirds (60%) of IT professionals believe their organisation needs to adopt AI in order to be competitive over the next three years, yet only 31% of respondents think AI will reduce stress levels.

The findings come as part of interim results from the latest TechBeat survey in association with Storm Technology on AI in the modern workplace.

The issue of stress management is a recurring theme as 60% of respondents said they were concerned about the impact of AI on their job security.

“The discussion around AI has changed so much in the past year alone that issues like governance and trust are becoming as important as finding new applications,” said TechCentral.ie editor Niall Kitson. The idea that AI will make us more productive prevails but the mainstreaming of large language models has added an urgency as IT pros become more familiar with the applications and limitations.”
