Samsung Electronics showed two of its upcoming TVs at IFA in Berlin: the 55" OLED ES9500 and the ES9000, an LED TV with a 75" screen.

The 55" OLED ES9500 is being shown for first time in Europe at IFA. When it will ship and what it will cost still remains to be seen. Previously the company has said that the set would go on sale during the second half of 2012.

Samsung isn’t the only company showing a 55" OLED TV at IFA; LG has one on display, as well featuring 3D.

The use of OLED allows for images with better contrast ratio and less motion blur, according to Samsung.

Using a feature called Multi View, as well as 3D glasses with integrated earphones, two people can watch two different shows at the same time on the ES9500.

For those who think a 55" TV is too small, Samsung will start shipping the 75" LED ES9000 TV in September.

The set is powered by a dual-core processor. It has a frame that measures 7.9mm and an integrated camera for motion control that can be aimed in different directions and pushed back into the chassis when it is not in use.

The TV business is more cutthroat with smaller margins than most other consumer electronics sectors. To help stand out from the competition the TV makers are adding more content and features, including integration with smartphones and tablets.

A trend at this year’s IFA is gaming. Before the show started, LG Electronics introduced Game World, a portal that will include 3D games.

Samsung, on the other hand, has worked with Rovio to develop a motion-controlled version of Angry Birds, which will be available for the ES9000 with motion control, the company said.
