The event, which will focus on the IT challenges of midsize organisations, is designed to provide delegates with an opportunity to learn from Gartner analysis, industry experts, peers and solution providers.
The theme of this year’s event is “Leadership and Execution: Overcoming business challenges with successful IT strategies” and some of the topics to be covered include VoIP, network security, content management, open source and business continuity.
Attendance at the event is by invitation only and is free to delegates and their organisations. Gartner said that IT executives interested in attending can apply for an all expenses paid summit package, which includes flights and accommodation. To qualify, executives must be working in midsize organisations of approximately 100 to 1,000 IT seats. In 2004, 16 Irish IT executives applied and, of these, nine attended. In 2005, 14 out of 41 Irish applicants went to the conference.
Approximately 128 people in total, from Ireland, the UK, France and Germany, are due to attend the event this year.
The ICS, which first sponsored the summit last year, said it sponsors events that it believes will be of interest to its members and/or the wider IT community. Sponsorship has involved marketing the event within the ICS’s own forums.
Gartner, meanwhile, is providing a place for an ICS representative so that it can lead the Irish delegation at the conference. More information and an online application form are available at www.midsizeenterprise.com/europe/.
