Studyclix, the company is to become the fifth member of the Axis Education Group, an educational consortium which includes Independent College, International House Dublin, Dublin Academy of Education, and Public Affairs Ireland.
Studyclix is a teaching and learning platform used regularly by 224,000 second-level students and 29,000 teachers and is available in more than 700 schools across Ireland.
The Axis Education Group offers a range of services across its various entities, including third level undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, language courses and professional development courses. The group is led by CEO Chris Lauder and education and technology investor Donagh Barry and serves more than 20,000 students.
Studyclix was founded in Sligo in 2009 by former secondary school teacher Luke Saunders and software developer Keith Wright. The platform aims to make second level study and teaching easier and more efficient for students and educators by providing users with access to study-support tools, past papers, mock exam questions, and Boost video tutorials guiding users through topics and real-world worked solutions. All content directly aligns with the Department of Education’s second level curriculum.
Studyclix serves the Irish secondary school market through two channels: a direct-to-consumer offering through which students or parents subscribe individually, and a direct-to-schools model through which schools purchase a school-wide licence to embed Studyclix as an essential tool to support students and teachers in the delivery of the curriculum.
Along with its bases in Sligo and Dublin, Studyclix has offices in Melbourne and Cape Town following the launch of the platform in Australia and South Africa.
Studyclix co-founder Luke Saunders hailed the agreement with Axis Education Group as strategically important for the company’s development, but stressed it would have little effect on the day-to-day operations of the business.
