Demand for cybersecurity professionals is at an ‘all time high’
New research from Experis Ireland suggests that demand for cybersecurity professionals is at an all time high.
Cybersecurity takes the top spot as the most crucial IT staffing priority for organisations when it comes to hiring new tech talent.
This is according to Experis Ireland’s ‘Cybersecurity in the Irish Market’ report, which said demand for cybersecurity professionals is incredibly high, as organisations are actively seeking to bolster their workforce to safeguard against the threats arising from the hybrid work environment of office and remote work settings.
The report found that there are just 844 dedicated cybersecurity professionals in the Irish talent pool for new roles that come on stream. This equates to around 35 applications per job and a salary expectation on average of around €67,500.
Meanwhile, 51 employers are currently active in hiring cybersecurity engineers at the moment, with an average tenure time of just over one year with a new company.
In Q3, 79% of companies are facing challenges in finding the right tech talent they need for their business.
“To overcome this hurdle, hiring companies must take a proactive approach in their search for tech talent,” said Experis Ireland. “Sourcing and attraction campaigns have become increasingly important, as the passive candidate market is where the best talent can be found. It is crucial to move away from relying solely on job boards or traditional advertising, as these methods are not effective in filling hard-to-fill tech roles like cybersecurity.”
