Cloud service provider CloudStrong has launched the world’s first server scrappage scheme, to help move companies from the expiring (on-premise) Server 2003 to a cloud server, remotely hosting the company’s business data and applications in a secure environment. Companies that join the Scheme will be offered by CloudStrong a rebate of up to €6,000.

On July 2015 Microsoft will terminate support for Server 2003, leaving approximately 22,000 servers in Ireland alone open to attack. A projected 6,000 servers will transition to a hosted cloud environment, representing potential savings of €36 million for Irish businesses.

Under the scheme, servers would not be physically taken by CloudStrong but comanies can qualify if they can confirm ownership of one.

“This is an ideal opportunity for ICT providers to offer world-class cloud solutions,” said David Waldron, CloudStrong channel partner manager. “We are certain that the server scrappage scheme will contribute to strengthening Ireland’s SME sector competitiveness through the benefits of cloud computing.”

Businesses seeking to avail of the server scrappage scheme and ICT providers seeking to partner may register at sss.ie.
