The Clariion CX200 networked storage system from EMC comes with a single-controller option and integrated ATA drive technology. EMC has also included a number of upgrades for Clariion software applications with the system.

EMC claims to have increased system performance on the CX200 by 60 per cent to 40,000 I/0 per second. The system is also now expandable to 6Tbyte using ATA drive technology.

Users can mix Fibre Channel and ATA drives in the same CX200 system to maximise usage of the storage infrastructure. They can use high-performance Fibre Channel drives for online transactional, file/print, messaging or Web applications, while ATA drives can be used for backup-to-disk operations, all in the same array. This combined infrastructure of primary and secondary storage can help reduce management costs and improve service levels.

Users are also able to perform non-disruptive upgrades to the Clariion’s FLARE operating system and applications such as Navisphere and Access Logix.
