Filtering process: Citrix channel director Kevin Bland
Citrix hopes to have partners ready to deliver on its joint V-Alliance programme with Microsoft here and in Britain by the end of the year.
The scheme centres around a solution stack featuring Microsoft’s Hyper-V and System Centre technology together with Citrix’s XenDesktop and Essentials for Hyper-V.
Kevin Bland, Citrix Citrix channel director for Ireland and the UK, said the firm had filtered partners who had responded to the scheme’s announcement in March and was providing training programmes to help them synchronise on both technologies.
His comments came as Citrix unveiled its Spearhead channel initiative, which it claims will take partners to the next level of desktop virtualisation technologies.
Bland said Platinum and Gold partners had completed the education and training programmes attached to Spearhead and that Citrix was now planning to concentrate on its XenDesktop certified resellers.
He said that progressing from server or storage virtualisation to providing it across a company’s entire estate required more than virtual desktop infrastructure, which he says “addressed only 10% of a customer’s needs”.
Partners who had completed the Spearhead process would be able to extend the conversation with customers to desktop virtualisation, which incorporated “many types of technology to solve the entire estate challenge.”
Citrix is hoping to run training programmes monthly until the end of the year.
