The Burren

A smartphone application that uses GPS technology and Google Maps to guide tourists around the Burren went live for the first time today.
The first comprehensive mobile application for the Burren region has been developed by the Burren and Cliffs of Moher Geopark features detailed information on over 100 activities, as well as details of places to eat, accommodation providers, special discounts to visitor attractions and restaurants, and details of transport options to and around the area.
Dun Laoghaire Cityshopper

CityShopper offers daily deals on tourist attractions, bars and restaurants, and shops specifically for visitors to Dún Laoghaire. Through the app retailers can generate, post and remove offers in real time based on how their day is going.
I-Vol

Launched as part of National Volunteering Week which takes place this week (13-19 May), Volunteer Ireland’s mobile apps for Android and iOS provide access to its database of opportunities at www.volunteer.ie.
The database, I-Vol, allows volunteer-involving organisations to advertise active opportunities online which the public can access and search either.
Guidecentral

Guidecentral is a platform for sharing and discovering tips on crafts, beauty, home decor and recipes, with an element of gamification to keep things interesting.
Both a catalogue and a how-to resource, Guidecentral works by having users take images of their projects and add captions explaining how each step was made before publishing them online for mass consumption.
Each user creates an account using their Facebook profile and are encouraged to interact by commenting on or liking each other’s guides, or by sharing them on social networks.
Users earn points for various interactions such as publishing a guide, or gaining followers with the new aim of getting to the top of the Guidecentral leaderboard and winning a $150 Amazon gift card.
