Android 16 takes mobile security to new level with Advanced Protection
Android 16, the latest update to Google’s operating system, is now available for compatible Pixel devices. This rollout marks the beginning of wider availability of Android 16, with other phone brands set to receive the update later this year.
Building on Google’s Material 3 Expressive design philosophy, the update emphasizes personalization and allows users to customize the aesthetics of their device. One notable improvement is the automatic grouping of notifications from a single app, which reduces clutter and streamlines the user experience. Live updates provide real-time information without requiring users to open specific apps, such as food delivery or ride-sharing services.
To improve the clarity of conversations in noisy environments, Android 16 allows users to switch to their phone’s microphone. People who use hearing aids or assistive devices will benefit from new control options directly accessible from their Android phone.
Google has introduced Advanced Protection mode, the most robust mobile security feature, for eligible users. This mode significantly strengthens the device’s protection against online threats, malicious apps, unsafe websites and scam calls. A collaboration between Google and Samsung will bring desktop windows capabilities to compatible devices later this year.
