Wayflyer, the growth financing business for e-commerce companies, has been named as the top Irish startup on LinkedIn’s 2022 Top Startups List for Ireland, which recognises the top ten most sought-after startups to work for in the country. The list reflects the Irish companies that have embraced innovation and the future of work, and spotlights start-ups successfully navigating the evolution of consumer and business needs.

The list is compiled based on the analysis of LinkedIn data scientists, examining millions of actions generated by LinkedIn’s two million members in Ireland across four pillars: employee growth; job interest; engagement with the company and its employees; and the attraction of top talent.

Wayflyer, the Dublin based e-commerce financier, achieved unicorn status earlier this year after its Series B funding round and has since gone onto raising $253 million in debt financing from Credit Suisse. The firm has grown its headcount to over 250 staff and boasts an Employee NPS score of 85.

Similar to the inaugural Top Startups List published in Ireland for the first-time last year, many of the firms featured have been bolstered by shifting trends as a result of the pandemic, with Wayflyer and Flipdish benefiting from the more Irish consumers utilising eCommerce, and Workvivo seeing gains due to the increased adoption of hybrid working.

LinkedIn’s 2022 Irish Top Startups are:

  • Wayflyer, the growth financing business for eCommerce companies
  • Workvivo, the employee communication platform headquartered in Cork
  • Flipdish, an online food-ordering start-up
  • Gym+Coffee, the Irish athleisure clothing business
  • Tines, the no-code automation platform for security teams
  • Xocean, the turnkey data collection service for Surveyors, Companies and Agencies
  • Manna Drone Delivery, the business-to-customer drone delivery company
  • &Open, the gifting platform that makes it easier for brands to send carefully selected gifts to customers to boost loyalty
  • Tegus, the company intelligence platform for institutional investors, corporations, and consultancies
  • ICS Medical Devices, the catheter design and manufacturing services provider

Sandrine Chauvin, international executive editor of LinkedIn News said: “This year’s top Irish startups list is reflective of the disruptive forces that the pandemic brought about, combined with the innovative thinking that gave Ireland its reputation as the land of saints and scholars. The diverse range of industries covered by the list, ranging from medical devices and cybersecurity to drone delivery and activewear, reflects how Irish entrepreneurs are making a global impact.

“These start-ups are navigating uncertain economic times, optimising for long-term growth, and offering employees opportunities to learn new skills and succeed. The goal of the LinkedIn Top Startups list is to help professionals navigate the changing landscape by being better informed about the current trends, emerging sectors, and the job opportunities in the Irish market.”
