Entering the US smartphone market poses a major challenge due to fierce competition from global giants Apple and Samsung. Despite strong US tech brands, domestic smartphone production is limited by factors such as high labour costs and dependence on foreign parts. The mobile network market is dominated by three major carriers: Verizon, AT&T and T-Mobile, which together control more than 95% of the wireless market.

Trump Mobile is coming to market with its own smartphone: the T1 Phone. This gold-coloured Android phone is positioned as an American alternative to the iPhone 17 and will be released in September.

The T1 is said to be designed and built in the US, but observers say the device is likely based on an existing Chinese phone – presumably the T-Mobile REVVL 7 Pro – that has been given a gold body and Trump logo.

The T1 Phone – costs $499 (€431) – features modern specifications such as a 6.8″ AMOLED display, 12GB of working memory, 256GB of storage, a 50MP camera, under-screen fingerprint scanner and a 5000 mAh battery. The device also includes another classic headphone jack.

At the same time, Trump Mobile is offering a subscription called 47 Plan, a reference to Trump as the 45th and 47th president.

Trump Mobile will use the networks of major US carriers such as AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon, and will not be building its own infrastructure, putting it in the category of mobile virtual network operator.
