SatNav cpecialists TomTom has added to its range of devices with the Go Live 1000. Coming with HD Traffic updates as standard, new and current users will have an additional service pointing out the presence of speed enforcement zones.

TomTom’s Live services include traffic updates and a local Google search along with QuickGPSfix and weather updates.

With a free one-year HD Traffic subscription (a charge of €49.95 applies thereafter), the Go Live 1000 is TomTom’s first device to feature the capacitive Fluid Touch display which lets drivers pinch to zoom in and out of maps or scroll through menus with the tips of their fingers.

A new magnetic mount holds lets the device slide into position securely, without the potential for damage.

The included maps with IQ Routes use real speed data collected to calculate accurate travel and arrival times. Every device comes with new, richer maps covering 2 million kilometres more roads across 45 European countries and more graphical details. These include even richer points of interest data – including business phone numbers and opening times.

A first for Ireland, the Go Live 1000 automatically connects to TomTom’s HD Traffic to give drivers detailed traffic information updated in real time.

Also new to TomTom users is the inclusion of speed enforcement zones, alerting drivers to the presence of speed cameras. Developed in association with the Road Safety Authority, as soon as the driver approaches a speed enforcement zone an icon will appear on their TomTom screen and a sound will also alert them. The icon will remain visible for as long as they are within the zone. When approaching the end the driver will be alerted with a different sound and the icon will disappear.

The Go Live 1000 is available to buy now and costs €279. TomTom LIVE Services is now available in 33 countries.

The speed enforcement zones will be pre-installed on new product ranges and automatically available as soon as you switch on the device.

Owners of XL IQRoutes2 will offered the Speed Enforcement Zones file via a free initial download from TomTom Home with updates requiring a current subscription.
