Survey indicates salary slow down
A new survey has indicated that salary rises have slowed across IT, pharmaceutical and professional sectors. The survey, by Rescon, also shows that a record 24% of employees received no salary increase in 2001.
In the IT sector, salaries are no longer spiralling out of control. ‘This should have an overall positive effect for the future of the Irish economy, to become more in line with inflation,’ said Rescon’s MD, Nessa Butler.
The survey also revealed some good news for the troubled dot com sector. Although 23 percent of people are apprehensive about joining such an organisation, 96 percent would consider it depending on reputation, funding, and management team.
The number of non-nationals obtaining work in Ireland has also decreased, falling from 15 percent to 11 percent.
The levelling of salaries has also caused a shift in what employees look for when joining a new organisation. Replacing salaries and benefits for 45 percent of those surveyed is company reputation or the type of company.
