Managed connectivity and private cloud provider Strencom has completed a series of projects worth €300,000 to connect Roscommon and Monaghan County Councils and Cork City Council to the Government Data Network.

The Government Data Network links all public bodies in Ireland and facilitates inter-agency collaboration and delivery of joined-up government services. The Strencom solution will enable the councils to increase bandwidth by up to 20 times.

Tim Murphy, founder and CEO, Strencom, said: "Many government agencies and local authorities are looking to enable secure and consistent access to critical applications in multiple office locations. They require a services provider who can enhance the scalability, security and resilience of their expanding networks, and we are delighted that the Strencom solution was recognised as a market leader in this area and awarded these contracts following a competitive tender process".

Ruth Buckley, head of information systems and business process improvement, Cork City Council said: "The Strencom solution has proved a key ingredient in our programme to streamline our network data infrastructure, increase levels of operational efficiencies and, ultimately, enhance our service offering. Our resulting experience of higher speeds, lower costs and a very professional support team, have validated our decision to award the contract to Strencom."
