Sony says bricked PS3 consoles will be fixed by 27 June

PlayStation 3 owners unlucky enough to have had their consoles rendered useless by last week’s 4.45 firmware update will have to endure a few more days of pain until a patch restoring their machines will be issued.

Affected system owners will have been down since 18 June have been assured they will be back online by Thursday, 27 June.

According to Sony, only a "small number" of PlayStation 3 consoles were taken down by the version 4.45 firmware update – which was designed to improve system, performance. The update was pulled after an overwhelmingly negative response on social media sites Reddit and Twitter.
