Lenovo is teaming up with BlackBerry maker Research In Motion to achieve closer integration between Lenovo’s ThinkPad laptops and RIM’s BlackBerry smart phones. The goal is help professionals do business more effectively while on the move.

Lenovo’s Constant Connect will allow enterprise e-mail received on a user’s BlackBerry to be automatically synchronised via Bluetooth onto the user’s ThinkPad laptop – even if the computer is off – without user intervention.

In addition to greater flexibility and convenience, this method aims to reduce the need to use the laptop with fee-based Wi-Fi networks. Constant Connect is expected to be available around the world later this year.

Lenovo CEO Yang Yuanqing said the collaboration marks the first step in delivering “a more useful and powerful mobile work experience.”
