Sky Ireland, Virgin Media Ireland agree wholesale network access deal

Virgin investing €200m in the ongoing full-fibre network upgrade

Sky Ireland and Virgin Media Ireland have jointly revealed a wholesale network access deal set to elevate broadband services for Sky Ireland customers across the entire country.

Virgin Media Ireland has passed one million premises across Ireland and has also upgraded more than 250,000 premises to fibre across the Virgin network. The company’s ongoing €200 million network upgrade to full fibre is continuing to 2025 and will support speeds up to 10Gb/s. 

JD Buckley, chief executive officer, Sky Ireland, said:  “This partnership with Virgin Media Ireland allows us to offer our customers even more choice when it comes to full fibre broadband. Sky now has partnerships with every full fibre broadband provider in Ireland. Whether our customers are using broadband for work, streaming content through Sky Glass or Sky Stream, or gaming, we can offer them the best full fibre service available in their area.”
