Toshiba has launched a new Satellite 5200 series of notebooks. These are designed to provide home users with a notebook computer that promises to deliver excellent support for DVD playback and 3D games. The new Satellite 5200 is the first line of notebooks first to sport the powerful new Nvidia GeForce FX Go5600 mobile graphics card. The notebook also supports 15 inch Clear Super View screen technology delivering a 1600 x 1200dpi high resolution display with a 70 to +70 degree symmetrical viewing angle ideal for DVD and multimedia applications.

Equipped with a mobile Pentium 4 processor-M of up to 2.4Ghz, 512Mbyte of DDR RAM memory, and up to 80Gbyte hard disk drive space as standard, the Satellite 5200 offers an excellent technical specification. Other built-in features include a DVD R/RW multi-function drive and the C-Pad touchpad from Synaptics, providing both a secondary display and the ability to control applications, such as the desktop launcher, calculator and signature reader.

The Satellite 5200 also includes a wide range of input and output devices, including a SD expansion slot, built-in Harmon Kardon speakers with sub-woofer, a TV-out port, three USB 2.0 ports and a high-speed IEEE 1394 video port. On-board communications include integrated Bluetooth for short distance wireless connectivity, a 10/100 Ethernet port and wireless LAN antenna for wired and wireless networking. A unique Toshiba Remote Control also allows users to control applications over infrared such as playing DVDs and managing PowerPoint presentations. Prices for the Satellite 5200 series begin at EUR3265.79.
