SAP has opened its first permanent App Haus in Dublin. The new workspace is designed to facilitate innovation and creativity in design for SAP products.

Officially opened by Minister for Communications, Energy and Natural Resources, Pat Rabbitte TD, the App Haus is described as offering "unlimited possibilities to create an individual work place".

"I am delighted to be here today to officially open App Haus and to launch the SAP Start-Up Focus program," said the Minister. "SAP is a leading player in Ireland’s ICT sector and continuously develops its Irish operations by highly innovative means. The opening of App Haus and the launch of the SAP Start-Up Focus program follow on from SAP’s recent announcement of an €110 million investment at its Dublin and Galway operations with the creation of 250 new jobs."

SAP also announced its SAP Start-Up Focus program. The program will provide select Irish companies with development and go-to-market support for applications that are developed on SAP’s next-generation in-memory computing platform, SAP HANA. Launched last year, HANA is SAP’s in-memory computing platform.

The SAP Start-Up Focus program works closely with SAP’s venture capital division, SAP Ventures, to identify and cultivate start-up companies that can deliver high quality solutions to real-world problems using SAP HANA.

"Both of today’s announcements further embed SAP’s presence in Ireland and highlight the importance of the work carried out by both IDA Ireland and Enterprise Ireland in supporting multinational companies in Ireland. I wish to offer the continued support of the Irish Government to SAP as it continues to grow in Ireland," said Minister Rabbitte.

"This world-class facility is our third Irish operation, and with a workforce of over 1,200 people in Dublin and Galway, it is exciting to see SAP is thriving in Ireland," said Liam Ryan, managing director of SAP Ireland. "I am confident that App Haus will have a significant impact on the intellectual renewal of SAP products in the future, and I look forward to witnessing the development of innovative, breakthrough applications by our teams in Dublin."

In May 2012, SAP announced it is to invest €110 million in the creation of 250 new jobs at its Dublin and Galway facilities, as the company gears up for its next wave of technology innovation to meet business needs in the areas of cloud computing, mobile apps and high-performance database technology.
