Realex Payments is to create 50 jobs at its offices on Sir John Rogerson’s Quay, Dublin. The company will be hiring across sales, marketing, IT operations and software development. The company will also be expanding its technical graduate programme.

The investment is supported by the Department of Jobs through IDA Ireland.

Realex Payments was founded by entrepreneur Colm Lyon in 2000 and has become one of Europe’s largest and fastest growing online payment gateways. It processes payments valued in excess of €30 billion per annum on behalf of over 13,000 retailers throughout Europe and is continuing to expand its customer base in Ireland and the UK. In 2015, Realex Payments was acquired by Global Payments for €115 million.

“Ireland is fast becoming a hub for fintech, with a wealth of talent available within the industry. We’ve always been proud of the Irish heritage of the company and its success as a tech start-up. It’s important to us that we maintain these roots while continuing to grow our global operations,” said Gary Conroy, managing director of Realex Payments. “The expansion of our operations and our technology investment in Dublin will allow us to provide the highest standard of e-commerce innovation and service to our customer base.”
