Nokia has introduced its latest Windows Phone flagship, the Lumia 925.

Focusing heavily on its camera capabilities, the 925 also boasts a 114mm (4.5") AMOLED screen with a resolution of 1280×768, with Super Sensitive Touch for glove and nail interaction. Nokia said that the 925 includes the most advanced lens technology and next generation imaging software to capture clearer, sharper pictures and video, including the best low light images.

The 8.7MP camera has new shooting modes such as Best Shot, Action Shot, and Motion Focus. There is also optical image stabilisation, autofocus, short pulse high power dual LED flash. Video capabilities include 080p HD video at 30fps with optical image stabilisation, which includes Nokia Smart Camera mode.

Somewhat curiously, the Lumia 925 eschews the current fashion for quad-core processors and goes with a 1.5Ghz, dual-core Snapdragon processor. There is 1GB of system RAM, and 16GB of internal storage, but users also get 7GB of SkyDrive cloud storage space.

The battery is a relatively modest 2000mAh, but the fact that the processor is dual core might mean that it will enjoy at least competitive battery life with other, similar devices.

Nokia has said that the Lumia 925 introduces metal for the first time to the range, increasing robustness. The back of the 925 is a polycarbonate material with the fairly pedestrian colours of white, grey or black. A notable feature is wireless charging, where a specific cover can be clipped onto the back of the phone to enable. The wireless charging backs offer the additional option of yellow or red.

Devices are expected to be available by the end of June, priced at around €469 without a contract, though subsidised prices are likely with the usual carriers.

Country-specific pricing and availability will be announced locally, said Nokia.
