Remote surveillance company Netwatch has announced 10 new positions in its research and development department.

Based at the company’s Carlow headquarters, the roles will be with the agile development team, designing and creating applications for desktop, for Web, iOS and Android.

Netwatch’s software allows the rapid processing of multiple video alarms from client sites across the globe, aided by artificial intelligence processing platforms.

Commenting on the increased role of AI in Netwatch’s offering, CTO Niall Kelly said: “We see this as one of the most exciting developments that could happen in our world, whereby intelligent algorithms can pre-process the video streams, and identify or classify the images therein. So, there is automatic screening of activity deemed not to be a threat; perhaps a large animal crossing a perimeter, and then presenting the Netwatch Intervention Specialist with only real alarms that match the threat criteria for that site.”
