Mozilla moves on up

The latest version of Mozilla’s Firefox browser (1.5) is now available for download.

The makers claim to have beefed up security and strengthened the pop-up blocker. Also included with the increasingly popular browser is a Clear Private Data function that allows users to remove personal data quickly via a menu item or keyboard shortcut.

The program has also been tightened to eliminate security holes. Mozilla said the program would check daily for patches, download them automatically and then prompt installation.

Other improvements include faster website navigation using the Back and Forward tabs and redesigned Options/Preferences window. There is also the addition of Answers.com to Firefox’s list of search engines and a Live bookmarks feature to help organise subscriptions to RSS feeds.
