Motorola gets MTV exclusive

1 April 2005

The mobile phone maker has won the exclusive rights to provide MTV-created wireless content, including an interactive series of games known as Plastikulture, and a wireless component of the award-winning MTV Exquisite Corpse image campaign.

Selected Motorola handsets will have the content pre-loaded, while others can download content from Motorola’s website (www.hellomoto.com) by the summer.

The two companies launched a three-year multi-million dollar global marketing alliance in 2003, aimed at changing the way people use and view their mobile phone.

The Plastikulture content is a series of mobile games. The first game in the series is Hairstyler, an interactive character-driven story relying on speed and memory.

The series has been developed for TV, handsets and the Web, and includes free download bonuses such as story backgrounds, screensavers and cartoons. Plastikülture will be supported on air and on the Web (www.plastikulture.com).

Motorola handsets will also have MTV’s award winning Exquisite Corpse campaign, which was originally part of MTV’s 2003 global branding campaign. Exquisite Corpse is a series of spots produced by 16 international MTV creative teams. Wallpaper, screensavers, ringtones and video will be embedded onto some Motorola handsets.
