Microsoft’s SQL Server 2008 Academy, which provides a training programme of five seminars for 100 of Ireland’s most senior database professionals, started last month at Microsoft’s training centre in Sandyford, Dublin.

Two of the world’s most highly regarded SQL server speakers, Kimberly Tripp and Paul Randal, delivered an overview of the key features of SQL Server 2008.

Course participants include database professionals from such high-profile organisations as A&L Goodbody, Bank of Ireland, CIE, Dublin Airport Authority, the HSE, RTE and Vodafone. AIB’s David Henley noted: ‘By the time I have completed (the course), I will much better equipped to manage our day-to-day business and provide improved strategic planning’.
