NUI Maynooth students Cosmin Siclovan, Donal O’Sullivan and Marie Farrell have left for Sydney, Australia to compete in the finals of Microsoft Imagine Cup 2012. The students won their place in the global technology competition finals with docTEK a cloud doctor-patient synchronisation system offering a personalised symptomatic journal with reminders for the patient and client management features to the medical professional.
The students are competing in the competition against over 106 teams from around the world from 6-10 July.
Paul Rellis Managing Director, Microsoft Ireland, said: "I’m delighted that the students from NUI Maynooth were chosen to represent Ireland. They’re a great team with a really innovative and useful idea. This year we were delighted to see so many cloud based applications developed at the Irish finals. Team docTek stood out from the crowd. Their idea is practical and their story as a team is inspiring. Last year the Irish team brought home the first prize. I’m sure this year’s team have a great chance to repeat that success. I wish them the best of luck and look forward to watching their progress eagerly from at home."
Donal O’Sullivan, Team docTek said: "We’re very excited to be going to Sydney to compete in global finals. As a team we’ve worked hard on this solution and believe it is something that will make patients lives a lot easier. I hope we can retain the Irish title and return with the Imagine Cup to Ireland once again."
