Hi-Life Tools, a manufacturer of precision forming tools for the metal fastener industries, has deployed Infor’s ERP SyteLine for 40 concurrent users in seven months at its Shannon-based manufacturing operation. Hi-Life, part of the US-based PCC Precision Tool Group, expects the new solution to bring significant benefits, including a 25% reduction in transaction labour, improved on-time deliveries and reduced cycle times.
SyteLine, part of Infor Manufacturing Essentials, is now being rolled out to PCC’s three US sites and to a site in India. All will be live by February 2007, providing the group with a clear view of its entire global manufacturing operations.
Hi-Life Tools’ financial controller Kevin Ryan said the company had been using a mainframe-based system for the last 20 years. He said it was reliable but not well integrated and contained “lots of bespoke code and numerous sub systems,” which made it difficult to use and to train new users.
He added: “We selected SyteLine as it can provide local control on a separate server and database while also enabling us to be connected to a global network. The fact that the system could allow us to operate locally and internationally was the key reason for choosing Infor.”
Rick Traeger, a PCC director who was overall manager of the Irish project, said: “Hi-Life Tools operates in a make-to-order environment and we have to handle thousands of part numbers. Currently we’re operating to a 6-8 week lead time but we expect this to come down because SyteLine will provide us with far greater visibility of real time information.”
Infor country manager Aidan Keogh said: “It is very satisfying to see how our software solutions are helping customers plan their global manufacturing requirements and stay competitive.”
