The Irish .Net Developers Association (INDA) and the Irish Computer Society (ICS) will jointly host the first Irish National Developers Conference at Dublin’s Morrison Hotel on Wednesday 3 and Thursday 4 May. While the INDA held a successful Dublin conference in October 2005 it said that this will be the first ever all Ireland professional developers conference (PDC).
“INDA and ICS decided to come together on this event because we realised that although we have different offerings, we do also have a lot in common between our members,” said Paschal Leloup of the INDA. “When I first thought of the idea of an Irish PDC event I was looking for a partner to work with on it so that we could reach as many developers as possible. ICS was the natural choice.”
Leloup said that the conference will have a range of excellent speakers discussing topics that have not been covered in Ireland before. One of the confirmed speakers so far is Martin Woodward, an expert in Team System. Guest speakers will share their experiences of collaborative development software and techniques and talk about the latest advances in this area. The conference will also include a series of hands-on labs, which will allow delegates to meet with various experts on a one-to-one basis.
Keynote speaker, Scott Guthrie from Microsoft US, will address the conference on Wednesday evening. Guthrie co-founded the ASP.NET team and, as Microsoft’s general manager of the Client and Web Platform and Tools Team at Microsoft, runs the development teams that build ASP.NET, Atlas, IIS, Visual Web Developer, Windows Forms and the new Visual Studio Tools for WPF. At the conference, he will talk about Atlas, the .Net technology for rich web applications, as well Team System and Web Services. “It is Scott’s first time speaking in Ireland so it really is a coup for INDA and ICS,” said Leloup.
An early bird registration fee of €80 is available up until 15 April, after which time it will cost €120 to attend. This fee will cover a coffee break, lunch, and drinks after the presentations. Leloup also said that he is currently looking for sponsors for this event. “As INDA is a non-profit organisation we only want to cover the costs involved in running this event,” he said. Anyone interested in becoming a sponsor can contact Leloup at webmaster@developers.ie. More information about the conference, meanwhile, is available at www.developers.ie.
