High Fliers showcase puts start-ups in front of investor/founder panel
The 10 start-ups from the Spring 2016 Female High Fliers programme completed their final showcase event at the DCU Ryan Academy, Citywest presented to a network of investors and entrepreneurs yesterday.
Female High Fliers is a 12-week programme which aims to address challenges facing female entrepreneurs across all industries and support Ireland’s leading early stage start-ups in fast tracking their business to achieve scale and create employment.
The participants included VideoDoc, a Web portal and mobile application that allows doctors and patients to connect; SciencePOD a content creation platform and content on-demand service that aims to make scienctific concepts more accessible; VideoDoc, a Web portal and mobile application that allows doctors and patients to connect; and Girlcrew, a social network for women operating in 44 major cities worldwide.
Female High Fliers Programme chief operating officer at DCU Ryan Academy Niamh Collins said: “Supporting female entrepreneurs is not just a good thing to do – it’s the smart thing to do. DCU Ryan Academy has established a fantastic programme for female founders of innovative start-ups that have proven there is huge talent in Ireland that hasn’t found a home in other start-up programmes.”
Applications are now invited for the Autumn intake of the Female High Fliers programme. Each selected company works with the DCU Ryan Academy and panels of experienced mentors through a series of practical workshops and tailored training sessions.
