    Smartphone Film Festival

    12-5pm

    The Pearse Centre, Dublin

Ireland’s only international mobile film festival which returns for its ninth edition on Saturday, 11 April at The Pearse Centre in Dublin.
This year sees the Irish premiere of Once Was Too Much, a documentary from Dublin director Ray Hegarty. The film follows Flames Not Flowers, a Dublin feminist collective raising awareness of gender-based domestic violence. It is a deeply moving example of smartphone filmmaking as a force for social change.

The programme also features the European premiere of Squashbox, from South African filmmaker SJ Van Breda. Shot on mobile devices across KwaZulu-Natal and Ireland, the film made its world premiere at the Sydney Opera House in January 2026, where it won five major awards.
