Digital Skills Academy has launched its 2014 industry partner programme, inviting companies to develop their next digital innovation through WebElevate‘s technology degree programme.

Since its inception two years ago, close to 100 companies – including Ernst & Young, BT Ireland, Telefonica Ireland, Oracle, Gill & Macmillan and O’Brien Press – have partnered with the programme to develop mobile apps, online games, websites and social media campaigns.

The programme has resulted in the successful delivery of many innovative and inspiring products, including: the first mobile app to support the learning of Irish sign language by parents of deaf and hard of hearing children; a social media and online video campaign for TV series The Voice of Ireland and a children’s maths game.

The WebElevate programme is offered as a Bachelor of Science (BSc Ord) degree in Digital Technology and Design, awarded by Dublin Institute of Technology. Focused on developing industry-ready talent, the programme has consistently delivered successful employment outcomes for graduates, with over 60% of the latest graduates (October 2013) now back in the workforce.

Paul Dunne, CEO, Digital Skills Academy, said: “Whether companies need support on the R&D of a new digital product, the development of a prototype, or a fully delivered mobile application or online and mobile game, the WebElevate programme provides them with a great opportunity to tap into our resources and talent pool. Digital Skills Academy can provide companies with the resources of multi-disciplinary teams of emerging digital professionals, providing up to 2,000 man hours to work on their digital innovation under the guidance of industry experts.

“While supporting industry, this practice-based learning approach delivers huge benefits to our participants who get to prove their ability to deliver real projects for real clients, which is invaluable in today’s jobs market.”

Closing date for applications is 19 December 2013.
