Digital Realty Trust is to double the size of its facility at Profile Park, West Dublin. The expanded tier III data centre will boast 20,000 sq ft of technical space.

The move is supported by the Department of Jobs, Enterprise & Innovation through IDA Ireland.

Last year, Digital Realty announced that Profile Park would see a total investment of €150 million. The project for the entire facility could employ as many as 120 workers during the construction phase of the project.

Digital Realty’s clients include global corporations, IT managed services and cloud providers, financial institutions, and multi-national technology firms.

In June, Sungard Availability Services, a global provider in cloud and recovery services, announced its expansion in the Irish market through a partnership with Digital Realty.

Gary Keogh, Digital Realty sales director, said: “We are committed to further developing our business in Ireland, and today’s announcement is a testament to that.

“Digital Realty is witnessing increased demand from organisations looking to host their data in Ireland and use it as a gateway for their operations in Europe and the Middle East. Ireland has become a key destination for companies looking to benefit from the latest infrastructure and knowledge economy that is rapidly developing within the country.”
